We
created a Russian-speaking Bride and Groom (a
classical conductor), with an Australian 'Aunty' and a photographer,
and slowly crashed this corporate Christmas Party at the Lobby
Restaurant as we had the wedding photos taken in the rose garden
next door: "Where
do we begin to thank you for the wonderful job you did for our
Christmas Party. Apart from the fact that most people had no
idea you were only joking, I thought the whole idea was hysterical,
especially seeing the staff running around saying "poor
people they don't know anyone in Australia!" I loved one
partner's offer of giving you work with the Youth Orchestra.
We appreciated the time you put into making the charade such
a brilliant success... Staff have commented that it was the best
Christmas Party they have attended." - Romilly Madew, Marketing
Manager, Mallesons Stephen Jacques.
We
frequently perform at Floriade in Canberra as roving and very
photogenic entertainers (in fact, it's where we started in 1993
- this photo is of our Pink Ladies Ukulele Band from 2002): "It
was great to hear such positive feedback from both locals and
visitors to the event who experience a wealth of local and interstate
talent that provided hours of entertainment for everyone to enjoy.
Your group's performances were very popular at the event..." - Louise
Milosis, Events Coordinator, Floriade 2000.
For
the Australian War Memorial we researched and wrote 8 characters,
all drawn from real life, who were set amongst the displays. Each
character had a specific story relating to the particular display,
of domestic life, war, loved ones not returned, and each story
added dramatically to the experience of the visitors. This work
continued for 4 consecutive annual open days: "Your
performances in the galleries throughout the day were very well
received and provided an added attraction in the Memorial's galleries...
Your contribution was a valuable one, and a great addition to the
day's activities..." - Sandy
Clugston, Manager, Education and Visitor Services, Australian War
Memorial.
For
four years running we wrote and performed comedy, characters (the
Mayor of Las Vegas; Alice McDougall and the Mayor of Canberra originated
here), centrepiece speeches and roving musical entertainment: "Your
skits and your comedy had a profound impact on the mood of the
General Assembly giving strangers common ground to talk and react.
The introduction of a little controlled chaos and some well placed
humour eased tensions and made the process so much easier to manager..." - Geoff
Robin, National Coordinator, Australian Local Government Association.
For
the National Botanic Gardens we researched and wrote songs specific
to the opening of two exhibitions of artwork and botanic paintings: "The
effort, imagination and talent you demonstrated clearly indicates
a bright and successful future for you. I really appreciated the
amount of research and preparation you devoted to making the occasion
so unique..." - Anne
Joyce, National Botanic Gardens.
